Services 24, 27, 34, 36, 53 and 858 will call at a new bus stop at Changi Airport Terminal 3 with effect from today. All of them will call at T3, followed by T1 and T2 respectively before proceeding back.

Finally, T3 is done. Maybe one day I should go to Changi Airport to visit the new terminal.

Graduation Ceremony

Yesterday, I attended my sister's PCF Serangoon Graduation Ceremony 2007. My is is going to be studying in a primary school next year. She will need to learn about adapting the longer hours in school.
Thinking back 14 years ago, when I was almost the same age as her, I remembered that for my batch, we didn't even have a graduation ceremony in my kindergarden. At that time, we were kust told by our teachers to don the so called "graduation suits" with a square shaped hat. After that, all of us were taken our individual photo for memory. I couldn't remember really a lot about my kindergarden days, my classmates' names and their hobbies. Anyway, nowadays, before the batch of kindergarden pupils graduate, they are "forced" by their teachers to learn some dances and songs so that they can perform on stage. It is rather hard to become a teacher and also a student. However, in my opinion, it is gd for the students as they learn fast at young and hence, it is easier to teach them and expose them to learn new skills. Every class contributes an item and at the finale, all the students ang together a finale song. I should say I am impressed by the students performances. Some of them really danced well despite their young age.

My mum is busy again to make more Malays' clothes. By the way, my mother is a tailor who works at home. She specially makes Malays clothing for them to attend their major events.
So recently, her Malay customers have some events to attend this monthand thus my mum receives several bookings by the Malays to make new clothes. I thought after the annual Hari Raya Pausa period which is the peak period, she can finally relax. Sigh!! She still have to work every day. I guess her business is becoming more brisk as the economy is improving.

I have my driving lesson this morning from 0800 to 1100. Actually, I take up 2 lessons 1.5 hrs each today. After driving for 3 hrs, I feel pain at my lower abdomen region, probably due to the prolonged awkward position when I was sitting in the car, pressing and releasing the clutch. I learnt more about parallel and perpendicular parking today plus some driving around ubi area.

Anyway, I am tired today after going out to town with my friends. Enjoy your day and gd luck.

3 dogs stare

While walking at a certain place, I saw 3 dogs lying at the floor, semi conscious. When they hear my footsteps, 1 by 1, they start to turn their heads and look at me with a menacing look. I was too terrified to respond in my head while my legs continue to walk. lol. And by the way, the dogs are known to harass people along the way according to the people residing a that area. I am quite fortunate that they just stared at me just now.

That's all folks.

Just a thought

Recently, I have become more and more frustrated of working at Dieppe. Although I am well aware of how lucky I am to be posted at Dieppe which is a stay out unit, I still feel sian and frustrated.

The first incident, in today, I have made an appointmnt with NSman to MMI for his Treadmill test. I have asked him regarding about which day he is free to do his tradmill. He mentioned 19th of November. I called MMI and found out that the slots for 19th of Nov 07 is fully booked. So, I slot him on the 16th of Nov 07. I called and informed him and he said ok. After that, the Admin site said that I will have to reschedule his appointment on another date. And the reason is because they can't pay him while he is on ICT period. This reason is rather amusing as just because of this trival reason, I will have to reschedule him. Besdies, they said that I can schedule him on the 9th or 12th of Nov 07. lol. Schedule is so tight and I doubt MMI have the slots for him. What about the payment for asking him to come down for the treadmill?

I have been wondering, since he has spoken to me that he will come down for tradmill during his ICT period, the admin site can treat this like a last minute walk in and pay him accordingly using manual payments. I guess with the introduction of e health, more administration procedures have been laid out instead and hence all of us have more work to do. I was thinking, with the introduction of new systems, shouldn't things be made easier. If not, I will rather utilise the old system instead as it is more reliable and less work.

Another factor that I am getting frustrated is that I finally realise more significantly the difference between work friends and personal friends. We can be good friends but when both of us are working together, the situation can be different.
For example, there will be office politics all over. I am starting to realise this recently. People have been trying hard to be lazy. Of course, that is human nature. But isn't sharing workload the way to go to ensure fairness? Perhaps I feel indignant as the workload currently now is not evenly distributed among us. Though, I dislike doing treatment stuffs like cleaning wounds and drawing bloods, I can do it voluntarily if no one is around and I have to draw blood on that person.
Knowing stuffs such as the admin procedures are good. However, the problem comes if you know too much and you are being too responsible and efficient. Other people from other branches will come and look for you to assist them in filling up some medical information which I am proficient in digging out in the system. Imagine, I am unaware of anything, I can just push the things to other people to do. Of course, if that guy has so many things to do, I will try and help them in whatever way I can. It is because of the above statement, I unknowingly learned some MOPA skills. I learned how to type clinical entries, do a statement of case in prior to a medical board, doing medical board stuffs all by myself. However, I just remained as an assistant to my colleague who is a MOPA. In case he requires assistance for me to type some case, I wil assist. Of course, my main role is still to trace docket which contain medical information, make appointments, track X Ray flow.

Perhaps I am frustrated by the fact that work is just conveniently pushed to me and a few other colleagues to do. In my opinion, it is always this few people who gets the lion's share of the job. I am always the one that gotten the scoldings from two Nsmen which really angered me till emotions got the better of me. All because I volunteer to inquire more about him. For the most recent case, I have documented in I guess end sep or early oct entry in the blog. I feel that everything is arrowed to me.
From the latest din created by me and the NSman, I have realised that I need to learn how to control my emotions in certain tense situations. Especially in situations when I know I am reasoning with people who I know obviously that they are at fault, I will tend to lose control and unleash my anger. I have done that previously on AJC Service Learning project. So, now I tolerate the Nsman's nonsense in the recent incident as I know that being service oriented, it seems inappropiate to quarrel and scold him as it might have serious repercussions. I guess that I will have much to learn be it emotionally, mentally and in work.

Thinking back 2 years ago, I feel glad that I have joined the Residents Committee. It provides me a chance to learn more about leadership, learn more about social interacting skills, persuasive skills. I recall a period when my friend deals with a rather tense situation in a composed manner. There is a guy who complain to him about things not done and so on and so forth. He explains to him, maintains his stand while he phrases his words which sound soothing to the ears. He will be my role model to learn more about social interacting skills. Human relationships especially relationships at work can fluctuate quite a lot.

Looking back at the things that I have written just now, my thoughts seem to be disorganised but in summary, it all zooms down to venting out my frustrations on this blog, my aim of controlling my emotions in tense situations.

Anyway, enjoy your day. I hope that evryone is in good health.

General

Yesterday, I went out with a group of friends to Marina Square to celebrate Jiaxing's birthday. We met at City Hall MRT station control. So, from my house, I can take 147. I reached the bus stop at 1635 but the bus came at 1655. Woah 20 minutes wait. Not only that, the bus is like 85-90% packed. So, everyone is squeezing inside the bus. However, halfway on my journey, when the bus is around 70-80% packed and a commuter flags the bus at some distance from the bus stop, the bus driver ignored and continued to drive on. I can understand that the bus driver must be behind schedule but I guess customer service should always come first. One can't expect that passenger to continue waiting for this service since there are still some spaces available in the bus. If I am that passenger, I will get very frustuated.

Besides, I have noticed the pattern that 147 buses always disappear between the 1630 - 2000. Perhaps a serious bunching problem has occurred during this period. While I was waiting for the bus, I saw 3 service 147 buses passing by. Sigh!!! It is very frustuating to see the service worsen.

On the other hand, it was a good choice to dine out at Swensen during birthdays. So, since Jiaxing's birthday was on yesterday, we got one main course and one ice cream free. Besides, as Swensen is celebrating some award which I guess is some excellent service or performance award, they are introducing some 1-1 package for sundae.
So, guess wat. We order 1 Giant Earthquake and we get another Earthquake free.
So, in the end, all of us were very full especially we had to clear up lots and lots of scoops of ice cream. For the flavours of the Earthquake, on normal circumstances, people tend to choose the 8 flavours. For us, we exclude the flavours that we don't like or was not available. Then, when the 2 earthquakes came simultaneously, people who were dining at neighbouring tables turned their heads and looked at us while the waiter calmly placed the 2 earthquakes on our tables and poured some water into a bottle of dry ice, causing columns of smoke to be emitted. The 1-1 thing was indeed a surprise and we really enjoyed ourselves.

Just an entry

I had intended to write it yesterday but didn't have the time to do so.

Time really flew. lol. The word "flew" is used here instead of "flies" means that it is in the past. This is due to the fact that I am feeling bored and thus penning down my thoughts in a diary. There have been a few encounters where I felt like creating a diary or blog to document my daily life. This can be due to external factors for example, watching this Korean drama titled " Precious Family." The father in the show writes a diary to inform his deceased parents regarding about the evens occurring when they are not around. He has a purpose, motive of starting to write his diary while I have none. This is probably the explanation of why I am so fickle minded in writing a diary last time, abolish this idea a few months later, start my diary again after one year plus. I am really fickle minded in many areas too bbesdies writing my diary as mentioned earlier. One such area is swimming. I used to swim every Tues and Fri, then every Fri to build up my stamina. However, I have not swum for a very long time since Feb 2007 I guess. So, I hope this time, I will not be fickle minded again in continuing to write my diary. Then again, it will be difficult to continue this conquest if I have no motive of writing it.
Anyway, all the above comments are just thoughts that flowed through my mind while watching the show just now.

Today was a rather swift day as mentioned in my first phrase "Time really flew." PTE Lau (to be formal) and I went to Army Logistics Base to collect 3 Medical Officer Bags and 11 Medical Operational Pouches. Before collecting all the above items, wehave to check whether the items are in gd conditions, and of correct quantity. Besides, their expiry dates have to be checked too for expendable items. So, in the end, it took us up to 3 hrs plus to finish checking all the stuffs. It feels mundane having to check items and items again for 3 MO's bags and 11 MOPs. Besides, the in-vehicle journey from my camp to ALB is around 1.5 hrs to and fro. However, I still feel that it is essential to check all the stuffs as my friend and I have found some expired and missing items from the bags and MOPs. For this "excursion" I called it, I volunteered my own service because firstly, I have never really ventured into ALB which is at Choa Chu Kang Rd near Lim Chu Kang area. I guess it will be fun to know how the infrasstructure looks like, the buildings that are located in the vicinity. In addition to that, I will like to witness the types of buses that are deployed on service 172 and 975 which passes by ALB and also the respective passenger loads in the afternoon so as to gauge the demand of my newly created service 974 from Bukit Batok to Lim Chu Kang (Loop). Many events will be lined up as we say gd bye to October and welcome the month of November. In my household, there will be 3 persons including me who will celebrate their birthdays this month alone. So, wish us Happy Birthday.

I also have some thoughts regarding about the rerouting of some bus routes when Circle Line opens in 2010 or 2012. I guess that I talk about that tomorrow judging from the number of words that I have written today. Enjoy my day and wish everybody gd health.

Driving Lesson

My driving is still noobish if there is such a word. I still can't control the clutch and will get nervous if anything goes wrong. I am still paranoid about one day, I will crash into a car if I am carless.

As of now, my brother is having his exams. O levels have commenced and he still presents himself as a rather slacked person to me. I infer this impression from the way he studies and the way he got so easily distracted by my sis mini gameboy games. lol.
Anyway, wish him luck for his upcoming exams and anyone else for their A and O levels.

Shortened 146 route Hougang - Harbourfront

New 146 Hougang to Harbourfront

Total of 31 stages per trip.
Reasons for the shortening my one of the longest fantasy routes:
1. Fare stages too long. (47 stages)
2. Lots of bus services duplication between Harbourfront to Bukit Batok.
166, 188, 963 runs parallel with the deleted sectors of 146.

ORD Mood

I think I am in ORD mood. I start to come later for work in army and become more hot-tempered as I am lazy to do the work assigned to me. The medical centre that I am working at is a funny place. There are 2 main groups in the medical centres or so called the cliques. We have our cliques while the other has its own. We see how it goes then. lol.

Today is a medical board day, another busy day for me as I have to assist the MO personal assistant in typing all the Nsman cases. It is a day where Nsman get to endorse their Pes status based on the chairman's decision and the patient statement of case.

Around a week ago, I sent a casualty to Tan Tock Seng Hospital. He fell down from the roof on that day, was suspected to sustain spinal injury and hence, the medics put him on the spinal board with a C collar placed on his neck. I was waiting there at the waiting area for around 2-2.5 hrs to know about his outcome and also to obtain back my C-collar. No one has called me. I become very annoyed in waiting aimlessly and take the initative to ask the nurse of how is the outcome of whether or not he is seeing the doctor. Anyway, everything is settled by 8 pm and we reached camp at 9pm. What an eventful night and I wouldn't want to send casualty again.

I have mentioned about bus bunching problem in Sgforums in bus forums. The reaction from the forumers is like "1 bus 3 mins also complain", "Complain so much, and how r u going to solve the problem?" lol.
I am lazy to reply them. I am just highlighting the problem and whether the relevant authorities do something about it is ok to me. If they choose to ignore, it is fine with me. I feel that there's a link between the rising ERP prices and this bus bunching problem. By finding a gd solution to solve ERP woes, it will solve traffic congestion problems and hence solve the problem of bus bunching as the severity of this problem depends on the traffic conditions.
It is interesting to see that different forums though under Sgforums, generate different reactions. In sg forums, under speaker corner, a forumer created a thread about Minister of Transport was stumped in a query asked by the residents. After that, some forumers complained about the bus service standards saying that they have to pay more but the standards do not increase proportionally with the prices or remain stagnant or even decline.
Seeing that, I posted what I had observed last saturday about bus bunching problems which is linked to the decline service standards as mentioned by the forumers. However, I posted this in bus forums under sgforums.

Anyway, in my opinion, forums are a gd platform to discuss and share information on what we have and to debate whether issues we have in mind.

Just a thought. :)

Quarrel

25th of Sep 07 is an eventful day for me. Last year on this same date, my medical centre is conducting a medical board. Exactly one year later, the same thing occurred with more dramatic events.

This event main star is me and another person which is an nsman.

It started when I went to lunch with one of my fellow collegue. So, this guy person A came while I was going for lunch. According to one of my collegues who stayed back at the medical centre, he was feeling very sick and hoped that he could be the first to be seen. When I was back from lunch, his hand was positioned at the stomach, coupled with the facial expressions, I could infer that he had stomachache. As a gesture of kindness, I asked him whether or not he wanted to report sick. However, his reply was that SAF Medical centres are useless or something like that. He mentioned that he had reported sick umpteen times in SAF medical centres, but nothing seemed to be done about his problem. I mentioned that perhaps I could let him be seen first so that he could go back home quickly to rest.

After a few minutes, I saw him pressing for stomach, seemingly to be in great pain. I asked him again. His replies were the same. However, I asked him for his identification no so that I could find his relevant documents and put him in the front of the queue.
I checked with the schedule of people that was supposed to come on that day, and his name was not in the list. Then, he asked me, "Is my name on the list?" I replied "No."
His replied that he would call the relevant authority that insisted on him coming for the board itself to lodge a complaint.

After that, another person, person B came to the medial centre but he requested to be the first to be seen becuase he had urgent personal matters to be settled at home. So, forgetting about the previous guy, I slotted him to be the first.

Then, a confusion occurred as there were more people who were not scheduled on that day came to our medical centre. Thus, the whole lot of documents were carried out and re-sorted such that the attendence of the personnels that had come was confirmed.

So, the order of that person mentioned earlier person A was shuffled. After the second guy went into the MO's room, he was very infuriated and pissed off. He came to the registration counter to make a din, shouting at me like how come he wasn't the first to be seen by the MO as I had promised?
I admitted that I had promised that he was the first or second to be seen thinking that if he was scheduled for that day. Since he was not, it was not fair to let him, the walk in guy go first. Anyway, he asked me to call that relevant authority to inquire the reason for asking him to come down for the medical board. He explained to me that his handphone was running out of battery. I asked him whether or not he knew the number. He suddenly became angry and scolded me of being ignorant and not knowing the number since I was working under that organisation. I just kept quiet giving him a stare and he kept asking whether I would call. There was nothing that he could do and I knew that calling that authority would not help as that authority is actually a medium to refer to the other agencies that was in charge of scheduling a date for him for the medical board.

Anyway, what I feel is that, he sure knew how to act. Till now, I am wondering the reason that he had to explain to me without me asking him that his phone didn't have battery so he couldn't call to lodge a complaint.

Many thoughts

Today is a good day, a Sunday, a weekend, meaning that I can sleep late and don't have to work at all. I was having a forum session earlier on in early afternoon and the topic was revolving around the issue of CPF, its recent updates, the impacts of the changes to the society.

I don't really comprehend the idea of how CPF works. It is too complicated for me coupled with annuities and longevity insurance for the elderly as a form of assurance that they still have $$ when they have passed away. It is a wonderful experience for me to hear comments and feedbacks from others. Hmm.

Sgforums have been having spams recently. Spams actually to me is quite common as I have received quite a bulk of spam or I should phrased it as "junk" emails every day by from strangers. Sigh!! I have to live and adapt to this new kind of life as technology is proliferating. That's the bane of having improved technology.

Just a thought.

Extension Of NR1 and NR6 to HarbourFront.

Guess that many people would have known these piece of good news. There are late buses available now from Sentosa to my home in case I chiong late at night. :)

The first time that I took a Nightrider service NR6 which passes by my hse was during a saturday when I was doing an NDP cover at Clarke Quay. The cover ended at 0030. As time passes, I realise that for saturdays, there are still lots of people and couples hanging around Clarke Quay and during 2200 onwards, the number of people sitting by the riverside at the stone steps increase. They sit around, laze around and chat with their friends about anything with their snacks on their hands.

Singapore Nite Life is booming and I guess that in future, SBST will also extend their Nite services to Harbourfront Int.

Car Driving Lesson

Hehe. I had my car driving lesson this morning. It was rather enriching as I had learnt many new things.

1. When the clutch is slightly released, the vehicle will move on its own. This will be known as free wheeling. When the speed of the vehicle is maintained, I can actualy release the clutch completely and the engine will not die off.
2. I have learnt more about right turning techniques using the steering wheel.
3. I can increase the engine revolution to 2 or to 2.5 before releasing the clutch pedal to half clutch position. When releasing to half clutch position, engine revolution will drop slightly but due to the higher engine revolution, the vehicle will not vibrate violently.

My engine dies a couple of times while making a turn and it is probably due to me releasing the clutch pedal too quickly while the speed of the vehicle is too slow. But I have managed to overcome this problem.

All thanks to my driving instructor Mr. Heng.

Vanessa Birthday

Today is 25th of August 2007 a saturday. And today is Vanessa Birthday. So, Ben, I Allan, Jeremy Wong, Joanne and her hmm should be "bf" bah Doro and Alvin went to celebrate Van's birthday by eating prata at Prata Cafe in Thomson near Long house. There is a rather wide variety of prata but I still prefer the chocolate prata at Casuarina Prata at Upper THomson. That's probably because the fact that I like chocolate.

I have just added some links relating to my hobby and some official links which everyone can link it to whenever u need help in finding the right routes to your destination. :D

PM National Day Rally Speech.

I have just watched this year PM Lee Rally Speech. He talks mostly about aging population, education and housing problem and solutions. One thing I am interested in is the way how Singapore is going to build this new town Punggol under the project Punggol 21+. I hope that the town will really look like the town that is portrayed in some of the architectural designs. Looks like my bus routes will have to be rerouted in around 10 years time.

Service 16 extension to Bedok

Service 16 is extended to Bedok wef this Sun 19th August 2007. The pic below is I have created for the benefit of those people that bring Transitlink Bus Guides whateverthey go. They can copy this pic, save it and print it in 4 inches by 5.5 inches. In thatcase, it can be slotted into Transitlink Bus Guides.

Service 16

I feel that Bedok is a town that is very accessible. For exmaple, if u wish to go from Bedok to Orchard, u can take the MRT, or 7, 14, 16.

Personal Statement

Luckily, Jiaxin just reminded me just now that tomorrow is the day that I must hand up my personal statement. I have the misconception that the personal statement is handed up at 26th of August 2005 but instead, it is handed up on 26th of July 2005. So, I am pondering, ruminating and cogitating now about my contributions to my college. Hmmm, actually not a lot. So now, I have to write down my three strongest qualities or which best describe me.

Civic Mindedness/Social Consciousness
I have participated some community work when I have the free time. One of memorable projects that I have participated is the Service Learning Project. My participation in this project reflects my most strongly held values and I really know myself much better. I was assigned to be the In Charge (IC) of a group known as Spidey with my friend. So, we had the responsibility to look after 8-11 years old kids that were in our group and to liven up the spirit within the group. It was a certainly a tough job although it may seem easy because I must have the stamina. In the first day when the project commenced, I felt that I tend to be paranoid about the kids safety as I was very concerned. I told them to stay put together and if some of them were going to the toilet, I would be following so as to ensure their safety. During lunch, if there were some spare time, the kids were playing soccer in the mini field and I would be watching closely at them so as to ensure their safety. Much energy is spent on running around, chasing after naughty kids during the three days of the project. During free time, I also had to play with them and talked about the things that they liked about. One boy called Nicholas told me that he like playing Role Playing Games such as Red Faction and about controlling an aeroplane to obliterate the enemies. It was fun talking to him as I got to know him better. I also talked to some other kids in my group about their interests and encouraged them to bond together and be united. This is one way of allowing them to communicate more among themselves and to the ICs.

Perseverance and Determination
The days of doing community work were certainly memorable as I had learnt and acquired new knowledge. I also participated in Kampung Senang Charity Performance last year in Kallang Theatre. I had to learnt sign language which I had not learnt before. The teacher called Joyce taught the sign language class very passionately. She had opened the doors into letting me view the beauty of sign language. Although sign language was rather difficult to learn, the passion of Joyce in sign language spurs my interests towards sign language. After the first session, my classmates and I attempted to communicate with each other using sign language. We laughed together as we saw ourselves making hand actions for the first time. I had to learn the sign language in order to perform the charity show. I would spend some time during my December holidays just to familiarise with the newly learnt sign language. Later, I was assigned to the umbrella group. So, the whole sign language group and the umbrella group need to coordinate with the movements to perform. My classmates and I practised every Saturday night for about 2 - 3 hours just to familiarise with the constant changes to the formation. At times, I really frustrated about the constant changes to the formation but high morale of the group and the incessant encouraging words from the coach and Joyce push me further to persevere and to be more tenacious.

Adaptability and Flexibility
A time when I had to be more flexible than usual will be the period when my friends and I were assigned to organise the formations of the March Pass and to recruit manpower and settle the logistics for it. Two months before the Track and Field Meet, my friends and I were cracking our brains to brainstorm the formations of the March Pass. So I started to stay in school longer due to meetings with my friends to discuss about the formations of the March Pass. When the Track and Field is approaching, we stayed in school up till half past 8 in the night for every three days or so. I had to be more flexible and manage my time well during a period of three weeks before the Track and Field Meet. There were many changes to the formations of the March Pass and the logistics. Initially, we propose to use helium filled balloons but later abolished the idea because of the constraints that my friends and I encountered which is cost. So, we change our plan to use flags as adornments to make the March Pass Ceremony more grand.

Z Pop Concert

Today is a fun filled day yet and a tiring day and yet a sad day for me. This day is a day when I am experiencing many different emotions. In the afternoon, while I was on my journey to City Hall, I was boarding bus 147 to Victoria Street. In the bus, there were many acts of kindness as the youngsters and the middle aged people give up their seats to the elderly. First, when the bus arrives Upper Serangoon Road, I witnessed a middle aged woman giving up her seat to another old lady carrying a walking stick. That really made me happy. I was feeling happy at that time because it was a rare moment to witness such acts of kindness in a bus. When the bus approached Bendemeer Road, another middle aged woman was giving up her seat to another old lady who was walking unsteadily. The third act of kindness occurs when the bus was reaching Serangoon Central, another middle aged woman was giving up her seat to an old man. Three acts of kindness were displayed and I had seen them all in the bus 147 while I was going to City Hall. :)
Upon arriving City Hall, Diana, her cousin, and I went to the new National Library in Victoria Street. Upon arriving there, I was full of anxiety about tremendous amount of books located there and the wonderful and nice facilities being well installed in the newly opened National Library which opened yesterday. However, upon arriving there, I was astounded by the one rule in the library that we were not allowed to bring bags into the library. Maybe, the security guards were tightening their security as bags might contain bombs. Another thing that I felt strongly was that in lvl 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 of the library, there were no books. The books were situated at lvl 7 or above. So, in order to browse those wonderful books in the National Library, we had to use the escalator to go to lvl 7. Besides that, the books in lvl 7-11, the books were not for loan. They were only reference books. Sigh!!! Besides, the topics were very specific for each level. At level 7, the books were all about history of countries and in lvl 8, the books were all about business management. So, the books there were not really suitable for me to read for the moment. Furthermore, when I browsed one of the books there, that book entitled "History of the Middle East" gives a overview about the Middle Eastern countries. It talked about the many different aspects of life in the Middle Eastern countries. It talked about the society, economy, geography and politics in the Middle East. By the way, the things that the books were written were at the villagers level. The contents were very detailed and I think that those books were very suitable for research on the Middle Eastern countries.
After visiting the National Library, we went to Mac to have a rest and to eat. After eating for about fifteen minutes, we went to Suntec City Convention Centre to watch the Z pop concert. The concert was an eye opener as this was the pioneer time that I was going to a concert at such a massive scale with mayn famous singers such as JJ Lim Jun Jie, Tanya, Celest and many more famous singers. Basically, I found out that sitting down on the floor could be quite tiring as my feet were getting numb as I sat on the floor, cross legged, for a few hours. I witnessed the idea of image coming in when the celebrities were dressed up in a certain way that really depicted a certain personality. First impression is really important as in the case of the superstars as they need to be popular with the masses and having a good first impression certainly enhances their popularity. The climax was at 9 pm when JJ Lim Jun Jie finally appeared before us, attracting swarms of crowds, especially ladies and I could tell you that he was really talented. Firstly, he could sing well. Secondly, he could play piano and sing at the same time and thirdly, he could play the piano and his mouth at the same time. The term here "playing his mouth" refers to using one's mouth to create rhytms and beats. For JJ, he used his mouth to produce fast moving beats and rhytms that were indeed good. I loved his beats and rhytms and they made me feel like shaking my body.
After the Z Pop Concert, I went home by taking a bus and so I went to the bus stop just outside Suntec. However, the roads were still closed due to NDP so there were no buses plying on the road. So I walked to another bus stop. Then after standing at the bus stop a few minutes, two tourists were approaching me to ask for directions because they were lost due to bus diversions. But then, actually I was not really sure of the temproary routes that the buses take. So, actually, there were two ways. The first way is to take bus 111 to Stamford Road and take bus 147, 166, to their hotel. However, I didn't really know on how to explain which stop to alight because they were tourists and they were not really familiar with the places in Simgapore. The second way is to take the MRT and then transfer a bus to their hotel. However, the walking part to the MRT was really far from the bus stop where I was standing. So, I feel really sad for being unable to help them.
I have told this incident to Diana and I am grateful to her for consoling me and making me feel more relaxed. I believe that time can heal my wounds and my disturbance.

Class mood dull

For the past few days without Ben, there is fewer laughter in class from the Vanessa and Joanne gang. Yeah!!! The whole calss mood is a bit dull. Since Monday, life without Ben is like coffee without sugar. There is no sweetness and laughter in the class. Throughout the days in school, I am appalled to hear people asking me questions why I am so happy and why I am always smiling. Perhaps, I am practising the things that are advocated in the book about winning friends and influencing people. I don't know whether to behave in this way because this way of behaving is obviously very childish. However, many people including Miss Ong which is my secondary school p.e. teacher say that I look very young, like a 15 year old boy rather than a 17 year old. So, this is one of the image I present to others, as a boy rather than a man. Therefore, by right, I should act like a boy. Yesterday was a very memorable day. I have successful teased Katie and Ronnie. Doro comments that wordscan really sting other people. In the process, it brought laughter to the whole gang. I can finally sort of revitalise the mood before Ben was hospitialised in the gang to make them happy. However, that lasted for a very short time but within my heart, I felt a great sense of satisfaction. I felt that I had done something "great". Besides, yesterday's chess competition was a great success. The whole of group of the chess organisers had put down the heavy burden on them. Phew!!! For the recent few days, Alvin and I are passionately talking about games, about Trash. This game Trash is not a bad game. In fact, it is quite a cool game an trash are basically building blocks in the game. How I wish that in reality, this concept applies. Then, trash can be used as a resource rather than being treated as a waste. So everyone, please help whatever you can to save the environment.

Trip to East Coast Park to revise

For these few days, I am on a studying mood since all my teachers are pressurising us to study now to be prepared for A levels. Yesterday, I went to the Mac in Serangoon for revision with my friends. I had managed to finish my HCJC Prelims Paper and my Maths Mock paper. Woah!! After spending so much time doing these papers with many errors here and there, I finally completed the paper. In the night, I revised some of the topics studied in JC1 but in the end, I went to my dreamland.
For today, it is a sunday and my family was supposed to visit my grandma at her house. However, my grandpa called early in the morning just to inform us that my dad didn't need to visit my grandma as she was ill and it was raining. So, I was cooped in my home for the whole morning. In the afternoon, I went to East Coast Park to study and revise my JC1 topics. I was taking bus 76 all the way to Marine Parade and maybe because the bus driver was blur, the bus was going at a wrong route and upon realising it, he made one whole round at Geylang Road and Sims Avenue. Luckily, I managed to reach my destination. The wind was blowing continuously while I was looking intently at the physics textbooks. I finally revised ideal gases, superposition, waves. I still have a lot of topics to go.

Ben landed in hospital.

I just received this bad news today that Ben had injured himself and had been hospitialised. I felt a tinge oif sadness and worry within me. Actually, the whole class is very worried about me. At first, many of us are shocked upon hearing this dreadful news happening to our close friend. Ya, so today almost the whole class went to the hospital to visit Ben. When I looked at his face, he seemed to look touched and grateful that the whole class was visiting him. At the same time, he seemed to be in intense pain but he just tried to endure the pain in his fractured right leg. This is the first major accident that has struck one of my close friends. It sure impacts me greatly and makes me view life as very precious. I suddenly have this imagination of myself having an accident and landing myself on the hospital bed, my mum and dad will be very worried and my classmates will too be worried. I tend to be pessimistic but nevertheless, I wish to pay a tribute to all my organs in my body that thanks for being dilgent and hardworking workers. The whole body functions because none of the organs have stopped their operations. It may seem ridiculous but in fact, we are actually the brain and the rest of the organs are just our friends. These friends are really the best because they work for you without pay and they work incessantly from day to night and from night to day. These are the many things that I have learnt.

I have encountered a problem regarding more on my friend. One of my friends which I shall not state the name is the cause of the dilemma within me. Firstly, in the morning today, he asked me whether I wanted to attend physical education classes with him because since another of my friend had landed himslef in the hospital and other classmates including me didn't need to attend pe, for today, he was the only one that needed to attend pe lessons. So, he just wanted a person to accompany him to attend pe lessons. So he asked me whether I wanted to go with him to pe lessons later. I was quite fickle minded but I had clearly indicated a no in my answer. So in the end, he went home without attending pe lessons. The issue here is whether I have made a right decision just now. I have decided not to ask my friends because they have bias views against him and thus they will pass negative remarks about him. So, I had decided to tell this incident to my parents. My parents listened intently to me narrating the incident and about the probelm encountered. What they replied was almost what I had expected. They replied that my decision was correct, and besides, I should be more firm in making decisions. And they said that if I encounter a friend that liked to stick to others, I better stay away from him. These are answers from them. They are still whirling in my thoughts while I am thinking whether my decision is correct, fair and just to myself and to him.

Exam results

Exams are over and this week, I will be knowing my exam results. School went on as usual. During this period of time, I continued to play a little bit just to relax myself for the A levels. I have to admit that for this mid year exam, I did not put in much efforts. It was just that I put in some hours for practice. By the way, I have already known the results of my 3 subjects. I scored 76 marks for maths, 67 marks for my chem and 77 marks for my physics. So, I have only gp left. Sigh!! I think that I will do very badly for the paper.
For the past few days, let me recall what I am been doing. I have been playing Disciples 2 undead campaign and one good news is that I have already completed my undead campiagn. Woot!! I was very happy. Now, one of my goals is to complete the legions of the damned campaign which my brother has not completed. But for now, I play Heroes III as I certainly miss the fun turn based strategy gaming.
For this week, I will be teaching my students this Thursday. I have not completed my lecture notes on mole concept. I am starting to worry now. Besides, I have not finished with maths tutorial about continuous random variables. Sigh!!! My work is piling like a mountain but luckily I have done my gp homework about the failure of the Cancun summit. I took about 2 hours to complete the whole thing. What a waste of my time but nevertheless, I have learnt some things from this incident although I am not very familiar with it.

Exams over

Although it may seem a little bit too late to pen down my thoughts about the fact that my mid year exams are now over as it has ended last Thursday, I will still write down my feelings about it. First feeling or emotion that I have is the sense of intense relief as I won't have to study for a period of time. I can spend my time on other areas such as recovering my health and cough and playing games and to pursue my passion. Coincidentally, these few days are holidays and they act as long breaks for me to recover my helath.
Last Thursday, I had my tuition with my students. This time, I was more confident than the previous lesson probably because of the fact that I was more prepared and I had known them better during my first lesson. I had finished the topic about the particulate nature oif matter. I intend to give them a lesson on ionic and covalent compounds but later, I revised with them about mole concept since they had mini tests about mole concepts tomorrow. I hoped that they would have studied or revised a little about the test and recalled what I have said.
During these few days, I had watched movies and played some LAN games. On Saturday, I played LAN games with my friends which is Dota Allstars. It is a quite a new game and it has attracted a lot of people who are fans of Warcraft III. It really tests on one's speed and accuracy and also strategy. Based on my performance on last Saturday, I had one conclusion and that is I scored 0 points for all three categories. Congratulations for me scoring the lowest point overall. I think that games are tools that enhance our minds, to be quick and flexible and most importantly to think. However, constant patronising the Cybercafe certainly costs me a bomb. My expenses really shot up and hence I have decided not to go today.
Besides, on that day, I also went with my friends to watch a movie entitled "War of the Worlds". Initially, the story really allured me to watch it. It really criticised about man being complacent because of the fact that they think that they are the best race on Earth until one day, when aliens attempted to invade the Earth. These aliens also are very intelligent according to the movies. They have buried high technology robots long ago deep below the Earth and on one day, when there are dark and grey clouds hovering the big sky. People thought that they were just normal and ordinary clouds signifying that rain was coming. Actually, when thunder stuck, one could hear large sound seemingly the sound of electricity rather than the sound of thunder. One special point about the clouds was that the lightning always struck at one place. This is the first step to mankind's destruction as aliens travelled via the lightning to the robots deep underground. After that, there was an immense earthquake and the robots just came out from underground and started shooting the innocents. Many people died as shown in the movie while numerous buildings were damaged. Tom Cruise played the role of a father and he had been entrusted the responsibility to take care of his son and daughter. The first part was quite good as the movie mentioned about the father not having a good relationship with his son and his daughter would have asthma attack if she was frightened. For the middle part of the movie, it showed how the escape of the these three persons. The story was really realistic and good. The feelings displayed by the actors and actresses seem to be so real that a disaster has happened on a very large scale. The three of them were fleeing for their lives. In the movie, it had also shown the fact that man is selfish. However, for the last part, it had ended quite abuptly and I think that something is missing. For full details, watch the movie "War of the World".

Computer changed from Windows XP to Windows NT

My computer windows version has changed from Windows XP to Windows NT as there is a trial period for Windows XP. My uncle had volunteered to come to my house, to spend his time and trouble just to help and render assistance to me in my computer because the activation period for Windows Xp is going to cease. So, in the end, we spent the whole afternoon doing computer and IT stuffs.
Yesterday, I had my gp common test. For paper 1, the essay questions are quite difficult and I pondered in thoughts for the whole of yesterday about my essay. I felt that I should have attempted qn 2 which is about no one daring to be different. This is a very difficult question to attempt as I felt a loss of words at that time when I was writing my essay. Paper 2 is fine except that I feared that my summary and AQ was badly done.
For today, just now, I had my maths common test. The test questions were quite okay with me although there were some parts of the questions that I couldn't do. Many of my classmates were commenting that the test was quite difficult and I agreed to them for some questions. I hope that tomorrow's chemistry test will not be a torturing paper for me to do.

Busy day

I had a busy day. I woke up early in the morning at quarter to seven. My father was the earliest to be woken up yesterday. After that, I brushed my teeth and washed my face to prepare for this sort of wonderful day. I ate some bread coated with nutella and the bread tasted delicious. What a good thing to start my day.
Following that, my father gave us a lift to AMK MRT station as my mother, my little brother and I were going to my auntie's house to witness a wedding ceremony taking place. We reached there at around 8 plus. MY little brother and I chatted with my cousins and we watched tv shows while waiting for the bride to come.
At around 10 plus, the bride came and we all crept into one of the rooms in my auntie's house. Another auntie which is my mother's sister came into our room that we all crept in and shared the tales of what was happening when the groom Davis which is my cousin arrived at the bride's house. What I could describe was that the obstacles were numerous and were impeding and hampering the path to marriage. Besides, they were not very easy to be overcome. Davis had to eat biscuits with wasabi on it. That needed a lot of water to cool him down. After that, I heard from my auntie that he had to use a skipping rope and skipped 200 times. Wow, that's a feat.
So, the buffet commenced after the bride came and both the groom and the bride served tea to the elders.
Later, we rushed back home just to prepare for the night because at the same night, we had a wedding dinner. The place was at Raffles Hotel and that was my first time exploring that place and coming into this place which is quite special. We arrived at half past 5 to witness the signing of the marriage certificate as a committment to both parties and after that, we toured around the place. This place had lots of shops and the toilets were indeed special. When I entered the toilets for the first time in Raffles Hotel and used its tap, I attempted to use when I was using taps in my school and shopping centres. However, I pressed as hard as I could but no water came out. I examined the tap feeling puzzled until my cousin told me about the correct way to switch on the tap.
We arrived at the ballroom at half past seven. As all of us had nothing to do, I began to chat about games with my cousins about games as games are our common interests. Time really just flew by when we were happily chatting. The wedding dinner commenced at half past eight. Wow's that was early. The groom Davis and the bride Jaslin walked onto the red carpet, bringing a smile on their face, seemingly having tremendous amount of joy of being the main characters of this occasion. The wedding dinner ended at eleven o'clock.

Revision

For the past few days, I spent hours revising my chemistry. I attempt very hard to finish all my revisions and attempt a few questions in the chemistry Ten years Series. However, I cannot really grasp the concept in Reaction Kinetics, about the order of reaction and so on. Oh No!!!! I have this feeling that time is running out and I don't have the attention span to read the books for 3 to 4 hours in one shot.
For today, I just came back from the tutition centre. I saw how my friend Eng Choon taught. His way of teaching was very different from mine. He was very confident and he told the class about many of the expoeriences that he had. That took about 15 minutes. He was talking about the importance of studying, about how studying brightened the future. For me, I just try to do my best to explain the concepts to them about chemistry. Chemistry to me is a very interesting subject to learn.

Finished revising maths

Yesterday, I finally sort of finished revising my maths. I have done like 90% of the questions assigned to me to do in preparation of the maths common test. Phew!!! Now, I have two more subjects for me to revise and a gp essay to write. For yesterday, I spent most of the time studying at home until the late afternoon when Kun Jian called. I went out with him and together with two of my other friends Mee Siang and Jia Xin to Hougang Plaza to play LAN. We play Warcraft III Frozen Throne. I have not played or touched this game before so I don't have absolute experience in playing this game.
We play two matches. In the first match, I anyhow choose a hero with the ability known as lifestealer. I train it to have a ability of rage which I think is the best and poison sting and speed. After fighting around in the map, my hero keep dying. Agggh!!! Mee Siang and Jia Xin levelled up very fast to level 14 or something while I was still at level 10.
For the second match, Mee Siang helped me to choose another hero which was known as the Skeleton King. I train it to have a ability of magical bolt which can deal 300 damage and it could stun opponents for 2 seconds, rage, critical hit and vampiric aura. I feel that the vampiric aura is quite powerful as the skeleton king could heal itself when nearby allies were fighting against th enemies. Besides, I used the magical bolt whenever I saw Jiaxing's hero and Kun Jian's hero now. When they were stunned, my hero went over and fought with him. There was once that Kun Jian's hero was trapped by me and my allies. Therefore, I managed to obtain a kill. Phew!!! That was my first kill. I feel so happy after playing LAN with them although it costs $2.70.
I feel that life must be fun and boring at the same time. Fun as it, I must learn to relax and have fun. When I was playing LAN, time seemed to run past me quickly without me noticing it. I had fun especially during the second match when I had better idea of controlling the hero.

Grandparents going to China

Just now, my father and I went to the Changi Airport to see my grandparents of to China. Besides, I was hoping to look what Changi Airport looked like in the morning. There was quite a number of people at arounf half past 7 in the morning in the departure hall in Changi Airport. Many relatives or friends were there to see their relatives going offto overseas. As people were entering into the departure gates, friends and relatives waved their hands vigorously and the kids were smiling happily. There were long queues in the counters in the departure hall. At there then I knew that my grandparents were being accompanied by our relatives whom I did not know to Beijing. They were boarding CA 958 plane. Before entering the departure gate, the kids belonging to my relatives were catching cat and mice game. They chased after each other and having a lot of fun.

So, by now, they have already boarded the plane and on their way to Beijing. One thing I recalled was that my grandpa was talking to my uncle and then he asked whether that daughter belonging to my uncle was a girl. Then, everyone started to giggle including myself.

So, for the holidays, I have only this week left for me to buck up in my studies. I feel very fatigue and tired and exhausted and bored about all this studying. Besides, the fear of me making numerous careless mistakes keep lingering in my mind. That indeed makes me stressed.

Brave

Sigh!!! My little sister and my little brother made a huge din in the afternoon which made me so annoyed and irritated that I scolded both of them. That is one thing that I had done on impluse. I was unable to control myself and things started to spill out of my mouth. Luckily, I plucked up the courage and attempted to explain to my brother of my rationale of shouting at them. My little brother seemed to fathom what I was saying. Phew!!! I was very glad to hear that.
In the afternoon, I went to the park to study and revise my work. I had only done about three maths questions in around a hour and a half. Doing maths questions is a waste of time but it is a practice and it can reinforce my maths concepts although I had made quite a couple of careless mistakes. In these few days, I must really work very hard and stop slacking and relaxing but at the same time, try to overcome the fear within me by plucking a lot of courage to speak up and create a din.

A "Professional" Teacher

Yesterday was indeed a bad day for me. However, that bad day gave me a lot of learning points and experience. When I reached there with Eng Choon accompanying me, I felt nervous. Even when I was teaching, I felt nervous with eyes staring at me. First things first, when I reached there, my former P.E . teacher called Miss Yvonne Ong last time told me that my dress was inappropiate. Ok, I wear a T-Shirt with Daffy Duck in front of the shirt and shorts. Miss Ong said that I should have worn long pants and a T-shirt with a collar.
I have this misconception that I was going to have peer tutoring with the students. Actually, I should be behaving like a teacher. For yesterday's lesson, the students were all girls. They were quite nice and kind to me. They listened attentively while I was teaching them chemistry. Besides, for yesterday, I was not prepared for the lesson because I did not prepare any lecture notes before the lesson. Sigh!!! I should have prepared some notes for them to refer to. I think that this will be quite a good experience for me because I have learnt that being a teacher is actually not easy. A teacher has to do lots of preparations before coming for class. He or she has to plan what she is going to teach in the class. I will try to overcome the nervous in me and I believe that for the next lesson, I will be more confident in the class as chemistry is one of my favourite subject. It is very fun.

Me giving tution?

Yesterday, Eng Choon had called me on about whether I was willing to spare my time in giving tuition to the 6 secondary 3 students in kovan. I would be teaching chemistry. I accepted this offer because I thought that one day, I also would have to work. I have to get some experience from working and this is one way that I can do it. Initially, I felt nervous at the thought of giving a lecture to 6 students. Suddenly, there are so many "what ifs" in my mind. What if I cannot teach them well? What if I cannot crap lame jokes? What if they are bored at my lecture? However, for now, I have started to calm down and plan for my 2 hrs lecture.
In the first 15 mins, I will be like introducing myself and ask them their names and their interests to chemistry. In the next 30 minutes, I will be teaching or rather revising with them on the topic on the particles nature of matter. I will be asking them about the things that they have known. After that, there will be a short break of about 5 minutes.
Later, I will be like giving them homework to do for the next 45 minutes. I hope that the plan goe well and the tuition goes on smoothly.
Regarding to my mom's sickness, she has improved quite a fair bit although for now, she still has cough. Now, three family members in my family has cough. Sigh!!!!

Mom is sick

Yesterday, Mom is sick and she is down with a cough and a fever. She really looked frail yesterday as she had dizzy spells and her body temperature. Since I am the eldest in the house, I need to take the initative to take care of the younger ones. In the morning yesterday, my mo went to look for a doctor while I took care of my little brother and sister. My little sister also wanted to accompany my mom to the doctor. However, my mom was sick and thus she was unable to take care of her while she was going to the doctor. Therefore, I had to insist that she stayed at home. This resulted to her crying.
It is very hard to humor someone. I try all means to pacify my sister by trying to play with her and trying to read books with her which she liked doing most. It was really a hard time. After that, I taught her some fundmentals in badminton and she ceased crying. Phew!!! I felt really relieved and satisfied with myself for being able to pacify her.
For that day, I try to help my mom as much as I can. I try to help her in doing the housework and in cooking by helping her to handle the wok. So yesterday, it was my first time to cut the apple into slices which I don't previously been doing. I tried my very best but in the end, I was like digging holes in the apples instead of removing the seeds in the apple and cutting them into slices. Sigh!!! Perhaps I should have learnt to do more housework and learn to know how to cut apples.
I have to constantly like accompany with my sster since my mom is sick. She may look annoying but she is quite smart. Although she is only 4 years old, I treat her as 9 year old kid, being able to listen to instructions and being a bit hyperactive. So, I apply the skills that I have learnt in my SLP, about talking to her level and being patient with her. Woot!! The skills that I have learnt in SLP has so many applications in the real world. It has really benefited me. I have learnt much more than what I have contributed.

Visit by my auntie

On Saturday 11th of June 2005, my auntie and my cousin visit my house. We have a morning breakfast at blk 151 coffee shop. It is quite a happy gathering as my cousins and I chat about computer games and schoolwork while my aunt and my mom chat about current affairs and gossip about er u know things that they are interested in.
After that, my cousins and I went to my home and the first thing that all of us did is to surround the computer and use it to play computer games. All of us took turns to play the computer. All of us were enjoying the fun as we watched intently on the person on the hotseat, utilising his tactics to win a match. Besides that, we also watched some movie clips which were quite funny and lame. Although I had watched them before, watching them again still made me laugh and made me feel totally relaxed.
At around 10 plus, Yilin called me whether or not I would be going to shiqi's house to celebrate Rui Xian's birthday. I have to apologise that I cannot go as I have to take the responsibility to take good care of my cousins as they are the guests. Nevertheless, I wish Rui Xian a happy birthday an a good year ahead of her.
We have our lunch at around 2 plus in the afternoon. I ruminated why the lunch was a bit later than usual. After our lunch, it was back to computer games and gunshots were heard in my room as one of my cousins John, was playing the game entitled "Red Faction". He was playing online and was fighting against other online players.
At around 4 plus in the afternoon, all of us except my little brother Jun Wen went to the badminton court to play badminton. My little sister insists on going with us to play badminton. I was attempting to dissuade her from going with us as she is still young and besides, she doesn't know about playing badminton but in the end, my efforts were futile. In addition to playing badminton, we also played a bit soccer among ourselves in the mini soccer court near my house. I thoroughly enjoyed the outdoor activities because I think that I had felt bored being cooped up in my house and another reason for my jubliance is that I am able to make my cousins happy. Usually, one of my cousins called Germaine and her younger brother John have conflicts with each other and their brother Ian and me have to be peacemakers to ease the conflicts between them. John likes to win as scores does matter to him. Ian and I try to find reasons to make the game seem fair so that he won't feel angry or disappointed. I have learnt some things from their visit and the things that I have learnt are from SLP. SLP really makes me a different person.

Raffles Cup Competition

I shall give a brief summary of what happened during my Raffles Cup Chess Competition in Raffles Junior College. The competition commences on Monday 6th of June 2005 to 10th of June 2005. For the first round, my team battles and combats against RJC team B and the whole team lost. For me, I guess that I lost due to the fact that my opponent had trapped one of my rooks and ensue in it being eaten up.

For the second round, my team battled against SRJC team A. For that match, I have made numerous wrong moves that result to my loss in that match. That match's duration was a bit short as I have attempted to make my moves fast but sigh!!!

For the third round, my team battled against SRJC team B. I was very happy that I have won in this match due to the carelessness of my opponent. He presented me with a free rook for me to capture. I looked and scrutinsed carefully whether that rook presented to me was a trap. I analyse for a very long time and I had discovered that it was a fake trap. So, I happily captured his rook. This was the first match and the only match that I had won. I had a bit of fear during this point in time.

For my fourth round, my team battled against JJC. That match was a walkover since my opponent did not come to the venue of the competition.

For my fifth round, my team battled against SAJC. That match was an exciting match although my starting was a bit not good. One of my rooks was captured because my opponent has successfully trapped it. I have tried my very best to catch up with him. I had ruminated ways of breaking his defence but unfortunately he had seen my ploy. In the end, I lost to him. However, I was very happy with this match as this was the first match that I had ever played without fear and nervousness.

For my sixth round, my team battled against CJC. That match was certainly a long one. I had only 2 remaining horses while my opponent had 1 cannon and 1 horse. In the end, it was a draw.

For my seventh round, I lost due to my carelessness. In the last few moves, I didn't expect that my opponent will move sort of kiddish moves and in the end, he uses his rook to kill my commander. One conclusion from this match, don't underestimate kiddish moves.

I feel that I can certainly do much better in the Raffles Cup Chess Competition if I am able to overcome fear. In the first few rounds, I played my rounds with fear clinging on me which had disrupted my rational thinking and hence ensue in me making wrong moves here and there. The power of fear is certainly great but I believe that I am confident of overcoming it.

Lastly, I wish to thank shiqi and seek fong for making a din in the class 28/04. I am very sceptical that the fuss that they have made are true and I caertainly hope that they are not true. Nevertheless, I wish to thank them for the fact that they have been making feel loved, encouraged. The power of love is certainly a tool to overcome my fear. Thanks shiqi and seek fong.

Things to overcome:
Fear of Losing
Fear of Failures
Fear of not doing a good job
Fear of being late for a certain events

There are still many things that I have to be done within myself. So see you again some day.

Reflection of the Second Service Learning Project

Basically, I feel that the discussion on the second day of second Service Learning Project strikes and impacts me the most. This is due to the fact that the discussion about certain things such as the debrief, about the kids feeling distracted during the debrief, about how many of us feel irritated during the debrief when the kids are not listening to us are frank. People like Alvin just expresses their views sincerely without leaving any things behind in his minds. The points raised in this discussion are good. The discussion benefited me by a lot because I am aware of what people may think and surprisingly, many of us have the same thinking about the second SLP, about it being not as interesting as the first SLP. Although I am not very involved in this SLP in June 2005 due to chess competitions, I have felt that the reflection today is very enriching or perhaps even more fruitful than any other reflections. I have learnt a lot from people such as Alvin and Diana as they share their vast experience and knowledge with us as a class 28/04. In my mind, I also feel the urge to share my experience and I guess many of us also share similar feelings and are eager to share but is stemmed by a word called "fear". The fear of offending other people and imposing your thinking onto others stems me from speaking up. I always feel that everyone has the freedom to do something and by imposing them through your views and the rules that you have set, you are like restricing the amount of freedom that they should have.
The next factor that stems me from speaking my mind is the lack of courage. The issue in the discussion is quite controversial and nothing is absolutely right. It is a matter of whether the argument is convincing. For me, I come from a simple background, only know about the improtance of saving. Money to us is very important because our household income is not very high. Thus, we have scrimp and save whenever we can. I understand and hence I do not request for a handphone even til now in year 2005. So, I am one of the "rare" species of people that does not own handphones at all. Only about 10 % of Singaporeans do not own handphones at all. Besides, my hobby that I have and the experiences that I have is absolutely unique. Itr is true that everyone's experiences are unique and special but for me, my experience that I have is absolutely unthinkable. I read Transitlink Bus Guides since I was in Primary 3 and I like fiddling with the pens, imaging that I was a bus captain, driving a bus to the destination. I fear that my classmates are not interested by my experience.
I think that I cannot overcome fear. The feeling of fear is very strong. This is evident when I was in Raffles Cup Chess Competition. I lose two rounds due to mycarelessness and partially due to fear. I try very hard to control the fear and stop myself from being pessimistic but in my mind, the images of losing keep flashing. The fear within me has disrupted my thinking and my common sense. What should I do to overcome fear?

SLP games today

Today is quite a nice day for me. I had SLP in the morning. Our whole class 28/04 played games such as relay, blindfold and spiderweb. The comments from my classmates is that I am really very thin. I think that I have heard this since I was in primary school. As usual, I remain slim and thin.

I feel that I am very slacked nowadays as Chin Kai just called me to ask me about a math question that he had doubt about. I suddenly feel stressed. Sigh!!!! Kiasuism is striking me again.

Star Wars

I have finally watched Star Wars Espiode III for the pioneer time. The show is not bad with cool graphics. The fighting is quite emphatised in the show although the part where the generation of the "Chosen One" succumbs to the dark side is a bit strange. After this show, I reflect and conclude that the idea of good and evil is very blur. I consider good and evil to be the two extremes now upon reflecting. I have learnt quite a fair bit in this show, about betrayal, about greed. These are all man's major weakness.

Jiust yesterday, the family went to Chinatown for shopping. We bought a lot of things such as barbecued pork. Never did I expect that the People's Park Centre is now upgrading in process. It has been a few months since I have visited Chinatown.

Besides, the SMO on 1st June 2005 is interesting but hard. I have made a couple of careless mistakes here and there. Sigh!!! Never mind. I know that I have done my best so I should not fear the loss of a bronze award.

SMO

Tomorrow is quite an important day for me. It is the SMO competition. I plan to get at least a bronze award for this year SMO. So, I have to work hard for it.

For today's SLP, it is quite fun although I am late for this program. I merely just dance and have fun listening to the music don't stop and hey now. The two music are quite nice and I like the music hey now especially because it has the essence of making me feel touched. So now, I have to resume my studying. Bye.

Holidays :)

Oh!!! Holidays have arrived. Finally, I can take a break and have a Kit kat. Just joking. Anyway, just recently, I have gone to the guitar and the harmonica concert on 29th of May 2005. The concert was not too bad except for one thing that happens on that day which a fierce lady keep venting her anger on our class because we booked the seats in one part of the auditorium. I feel amazed by her reactions to this trival matter to me. More shocked rather than awed. Sigh!!!! This causes Joanne to be very sad. I just ponder about the rationale of making a big fuss about this.

Upon reflecting on this incident, I feel that it is quite inconsiderate to sort of reserve seats in the auditorium but I think she should not have shouted and making a din here because she can indirectly hurt someone by her verbal abuse and tone. Besides, upon further analysing, on that day, I see many seats available at other parts of the auditorium and so she can sit on any available seats. It is not as if there are no seats available in the auditorium and we are still reserving the seats for our friends. That act to me is considered inconsiderate.

I went to Orchard with my family last Saturday. As usual, my cousins and I went to a bookstore to read some books. I read about self improvement books about making friends and I have jotted some points in the books.

Handling people
1. Don't condemn, complain or criticise others.
2. Give honest and sincere appreciation.
3. Arouse in the other person an eager want.

Ways to make people like you
1. Become genuinely interested in other people.
2. Smile
3. Remember that a person's name is the few words that that person likes best.
4. Be a good listener.

All these things seem familiar to me but yet I am not practising it. Sigh!!! I have to improve on his skill.

Holidays coming

It has been almost a month since I have updated my blog. My computer has been spoilt for two weeks and this is one of the reasons of why I have not been updating my blog for a month.

My term 2 common tests have already been over and the results in my opinion are fairly poor although I have some improvement in my general paper. Phew! What a relief. This implies that environment is really my niche topic in the gp essay as the teacher commented that the points in the essay are quite well supported.

Let me write in my blog about the problem of my computer. This time, the problem that I have initially faced when I switched on my computer is that one of the system files is corrupted and therefore, the windows cannot be loaded properly. Thus, I can only load the windows in safe mode. I attempt to load the windows using normal mode but my efforts are futile. Next, I try to reformat my hard disk and install windows in my harddisk so as to refresh the whole thing and to reinstall the corrupted file using my two recovery disks. However, at about 72% of the whole recovery process, a message comes out and says that the disk in drive N is not correct. The drive N here I think refers to the cd rom drive. I try to change the recovery disk 1 to recovery disk 2 but the message still pops out. I have no choice but to cancel the whole process. After cancelling the whole process and restarting the computer, a message comes out and says that the operating system is not found and press any keys to try again. I try of course and still that message comes out.
I ask my uncle about this excerbating problem and he commented that the harddisk of my computer is corrupted. In other words, the computer is spoilt and I have to buy a new one. Then, my uncle lists down the available choices that I have when buying computer. First, I can buy the whole computer package at around 900 dollars including the CPU, monitor, mouse, keyboard. Second, I can buy only the CPU at around 600 dollars but at a better performance. I choose the second choice since my monitor and the keyboard and the mouse are still working. So I went with my uncle to buy a CPU on Saturday 21st of May 2005 at Sim Lim Square. I bought the CPU at around $665. I felt that the price is quite worth it for 384 RAM and 80 Gb harddisk space. The computer processing speed is 2.4 GHz which is already not bad. However, there is no floppy drive and so I have to install the floppy drive by myself from the old computer to this new one.
I spend the whole day 24 hours just to install the hardware and the software into this new computer. It was a tiring task and it was only me to be blamed for not taking care of my computer properly. Once bitten, twice shy. I know now and taste the consequences of not protecting my computer well enough. The process is really tiring. On Saturday and Monday, I spend about 24 hours in total to settle with my computer. After going out with my uncle to Sim Lim Square, I learned quite a lot from him. Besides, he also treated me to a meal. That is quite nice of him. I attempt to learn more about computers as much as I can from him so that I am able to repair my computer or to upgrade my computer by myself.
On Saturday, I went for college day. It was a rather boring event and the only thing that I do there is to clap my two hands to generate loud clapping sounds for the prize winners. I think that it is not easy to be a prize winners of the college day as it takes utmost efforts and that the person must be really hardworking to score good grades. For that Saturday, I arrived to school in a nick of time and luckily my uncle gave me a lift to Toa Payoh MRT Station. If I have chosen to board bus 851, I would have been late for college day. Ya, I remember something, for that day, I think that the choir performance is really cool. They make use of rhymes, stomping on the ground and trying to make background music to create the sense of atmosphere required for the song. They are really pro because they are not only just singing the song. I feel that the rhymes and the stomping of the feet on the floor and the making of music just coordinates well to form a masterpiece.
On Sunday, I went for the Big Walk. Wow. When I board bus 70 from my house to National Stadium, almost half of the passengers in the bus were also going for the Big Walk. For that event, my younger brother and I went to the Big Walk and I could say that walking 10 kilometres is certainly not an easy task. The route is from National Stadium to Esplanade Drive and back to National Stadium. My brother and I walked for about 75% of the 10 kilometres and ran for the remaining 25 %. The Big Walk event had a high turnout of nearly 50000 people. When the Big Walk event commenced, my brother and I waited for about 3 minutes until we really walked at our walking speed. My whole body felt refreshed after the walk and I was very satisfied with myself that I was able to complete a 10 km walk. After the walk, my feet had some blisters and mud as the ground there was muddy.
On that same day in the evening, I went to the Esplanade to watch the band and co concert. The concert is quite successful and I feel that the music played by the band and the co is really good. One can see that the band and the co have practised really hard for this concert. Besides, what is impressive is one of the performances by the co where one student from 03/04 performed solo. The thing that impressed me is that he didn't read scripts when he was playing with his musical instrument. Furhtermore, on that day, I witnessed how people dressed themselves up to watch a show in the esplanade. Some of them dressed formally with nice clothes and pants and dresses. It was a fashion show to me on that day.

Service 168 is now one of my most frequent boarded service. It plies from Bedok to Woodlands via Tampines. The reason is that it is now fast to take this service to Woodlands rather than taking MRT. The time required to reach Woodlands from my house is around 30 - 40 minutes depending on the waiting times of the buses.

The End

A new me

It has been almost three weeks since I have last blogged. These three weeks were filled with enriching experiences and very valuable lessons that I possibly could not learn in the classroom. First up is the Track and Field Meet 2005 in the 28th of April 2005. A few days before the actual meet, I have problems handling the recruitment of the participants involved in the March Pass as many students are not aware that they are in for March Pass. Perhaps, the House Captains just write down their names in the list of participants for the March Pass without informing them. Luckily, Mr.Alex Lee, our teacher has managed to help us avert this imminent and impending disaster. Luckily, the whole Track and Field Meet 2005 is a success and there are not much screw ups during the March Pass in the actual Track and Field Meet 2005. Everyone has laughter and fun at that time and of course many free drinks and free foods. This is one experience that I will probably never forget because this is the first time that I have organising this event and luckily it turns out to be successful. Through this thingy, I have witnessed my own flaws and my own weakness. Therefore, I shall strive to minimise my flaws and overcome my weakness and be a new me.
On the 30th of April 2005, I went out with my classmates to Alvin's church. That was quite a new experience for me because I had never attended a church and I had never known about what the atmosphere would be like. The songs that Alvin had sung were appealing to my ears. It was as though that a rock band was singing and the sounds produced there was simply terrific. Although I was not used to the fact that every sentence that they were singing were praising Jesus, I began to love the music and attempted to adapt to this new environment. The speech that Alvin and the youth leader have given is simply very convincing. They talked about opening up our hearts and trying out new things. In my mind, I was cogitating about what is my purpose of living in this earth where pollution already prevails and man are killing themselves. Til then, both of them are the keys to the treasure chest that has been locked for around 17 years. I realised what is the purpose of my life and there was one thing that was stemming me and that was my confidence. My low level of confidence was impeding me into directing myself towards that purpose of my life that I wish to have. I fear that I will take a risk because I have not attempted it yet. After going to the church, we went for a dinner and Alvin treated us to Swensens and I ate an ice cream.
Tests are around the corner as May approaches. I got 68% for my maths and I have this strong feeling that my love for maths has become more and more distant. I began to feel the struggle of the difficulty of grasping cerain concepts in certain chapters. I was feeling very down and weary after long hours of school. The burden that I was carrying everyday to school and back to home was simply too heavy for me. Luckily, there was this Labour Day on the 1st of May 2005 to provide me with a day of rest and a day to catch up. On this day, I went to Woodlands to accompany my friends for revisions and to do our homework. With friends, we all managed to study for 8 hours without rest. That was one miracle for me as I had never persevered for that long before.
As May approaches, I can feel the immense atmosphere of competitions approaching. SYFs and sports competitions have been on the topic in AJC as many students are chatting about the rigorous training schedules and their hardwork and utmost efforts put specially for their respective competitions.
Stopping here!!!!
Avoid scaracity thinking

Stress?

Recently, I have really experienced the might of stress. In one of the surveys that I have done about my personality, it says that I am a "perfectionist". After looking up the meaning of this word in the dictionary, Longman dictionary mentions that "someone who is not satisfied with anything unless it is completely perfect."I feel that this is really true as I always set high expectations of myself when doing things. However, for now, I am beginning to feel that things are getting out of the control. I have many problems hounding in my mind, Track and Field, Studies, Chess, Maths Olyampid. These are the three main problems in my mind.
I feel that I am beginning to grapple with my studies. I find difficulty in grasping certain concepts in content based subjects. I think I have to settle this problem by hook or by crook.
Another week has passed with intense pressure applied on my brain. I keep reflecting every night and day whether I have set the expectations of myself too high that I cannot cope or that I cannot achieve. There is one period that I am careless in doing things and I don't even know the causes of this. Careless is a weakness but cannot be utilised as an excuse. I have to eradicate and obliterate this weakness of mine. This will be a psychological battle with the careless virus within my mind. I know I can control it and I know I can deal with it by relaxing myself.

Optimistic future

Recently, there is this earthquake that struck Nias. Just now, I was just doing a mindmap of this article entitled "Situation in Nias is worse than expected." This roughly gives the idea that this earthquake of magnitude 8.7 on the Richtier scale has inflicted tremendous amount of damage, be it to the people and economy and buildings. Many people were left homeless as buildings turned into debris and wreckages within a night and refugees camps were set up. An abandoned school has been convertedinto a temporry hospitial to treat the injured . One can detect the strong putrid stench of the rotting bodies at the streets as the rescue teams attempt to scramble for survivors.
When I knew about this incident three days ago, I felt fortunate and lucky to be in Singapore. However, the tremors occurring in Singapore as a result of this earthquake has prompted many people to call the police. This makes me ruminate whether Singaporeans are vulnerable to natural disasters. It is just that for me, I have encountered few setbacks in the case of natural disasters. I feel myself being weak and I suddenly have this feeling of unease. However, as I read the newspaper article, I am inspired by the reactions of the locals there. The reaction from the locals from this earthquake are quite similar to the reaction from them during the tsunami incident. This is what inspired me. The time lapse between the tsunami incident and this earthquake is rather short and yet they are not mentally beaten. They remain optimistic to the future, thinking that hope always prevails.

For yesterday, the filming of the Service Learning Project also makes me feel a sense of belonging to the class. I always think that it is not a matter of saying but it is a matter of doing it because actions certainly speak louder than words. When the whole class play one of the energiser games entitled "United We Stand", everyone just puts in their utmost efforts to stand up together regardless of race, language or religion. Although there will be always problems and difficulties that we encounter that impede our road to success, with a tenacious attitude and an optimistic mind like the kids in Indonesia in the aftermath of the earthquake, nothing is implausible. The filming yesterday was a tremendous success. Initially, I am very nervous with the camera staring at me, scanning the whole class as we proceed to do our reflections for our Service Learning Project, this feeling has abated as the whole class play the energiser game. Time really flies and for me, I was not aware of the time until Benjamin announces the stop of the playing of the games and proceed to do our reflections. I look at the clock and I am amazed that half an hours have been utilised just to play this game. During the time when the whole class was playing the game, all of us just act naturally and there were no NGs. Wow, that's cool.

Traffic lights

Today I have an extraordinary experience to share. I am discussed at 1 pm today after the chemistry lectures since I have no lessons after 1 pm, so I have decided to go home early to do my assignments. During my journey home, at AMK Avenue 3, there is a minor traffic jam as the traffic lights are faulty. There are sounds of the honking horns by the cars on one part of the stretch of the road AMK Avenue 3 as impatient motorists keep pressing their horns and grumbling about the jam. The traffic warden is busily moving here and there just to act like a traffic light, to give the green light for the cars to move and to give the red light for the cars to stop. He has been very busy running here and there and using his hand signals to signal to the motorists of what to do to avoid an accident. This brings to me the idea of a traffic light. Although it may seem quite common and insignificant to many of us, without it or without traffic lights on the road, road systems will be in chaos. Really, I just feel that many times, we just take things for granted and that includes me too because we already have this thing. The value of the things that we all possess plunge although sometimes we ourselves do not know it. There are too many things that we possess and one can agrue that we cannot certainly spend all the time cherishing it and wasting time to take good care of it. Besides, our lives are very busy and in this contemporary world, time is money and time is running out fast. However, this traffic light incident has reminded me not to take things for granted. Although we are constantly reminded and nagged by our teachers, our elders, our parents and so on, we always forget all these golden advices. I really have to reflect on this.

Another week gone

Woot! Another week has gone after the long weekend with Good Friday a public holiday. So, during this whole week, on Thursday, our whole class stayed back to paint our home room. Hmm. The painting is only about 30 to 40 % done while the noticeboard is quite filled with photos. We stayed until about 6 pm until that Indian uncle shouted and yelled and scolded us to leave the classroom as he wants to lock it. What an unreasonable man. Just yesterday, I went to a buffet with my family and I had eaten 2 plates of fried rice with some veggies on it and some beancurds. I love the veggies there than other things for it is delicious and tasty. Just then, there was a jigsaw puzzle competition going on. I felt like participating this competition but my parents were reluctant to take part in this competition. Therefore, I was short of people to be able to participate in this competition. This competition requires four people to form one group to solve the jigsaw puzzle. Nevertheless, it was a fun filled day.

Termination of school holidays today :(

It has been quite a long time since I have last blogged. Same old phrase when I start blogging. However, in all these days, the events that I have been through are quite fruitful.
I have participated in the maths competition and it is very tough. I only know how to do 5 questions out of the 15 questions in the test paper.
Next area is the Track And Field Meet that I have signed up via Alpha List. I have become the in charge of the opening ceremony/ march past. Diana and I are the in charge of this march past and our job is to think of a idea of a formation in this March Past. Previously, we have thought of some designs and formations in the March Past but Mr. Lee mentions that these designs are quite complicated and sophisicated and they definitely require many rehearsals. What Mr. Lee wants is a simple and yet grand formation in the march past which has a significant meaning. So, Diana and I and our 2 helpers have to crack our brains to think of this March Past formation. I have thought of one formation while I am dreaming and I feel very satisfied with it because it is simple and it consists of two meanings and they are Track N Field and 21st Track N Field Finals. Finally, Mr. Lee has decided that the formation of the March Past is to form the five petals flower with a circle in the centre. The circle in the centre can be formed using the painted circle in the centre of the soccer field. So now, we have to think of how to form the five petals flowers with only 1 rehearsal.
Next area will be the future education choice in universities. I have checked out some of the univerisities both private and the public ones about their courses available to me. I like specific courses such as accountacy, mechanical engineering, mathematics. I have attended talks and seminars by the various universities such as NUS and SIC during these past few weeks. These talks are quite important to me so that I am more aware of the choices available to me and the prerequisites to enter the universities.
Next area will be the IT area. I recently bought the a portable harddisk in the IT Fair in Suntec City last week but til now, I have not found a new removable harddisk shown in m,y computer. Sigh!! I guess I have to ask my uncle about this thingy.
Next area will be today, the trip to the zoo. It is since many years down the road that I have revisited the zoo. I have visited the zoo for about three times and for today's trip to the zoo, I learn much more than the previous trips to the zoo when I was young. I think probably because of the fact that I like nature and animals and I want to know more about them and this is a rare chance to do that. Although today's trip to the zoo is certainly exhaustive, it is an eye opener to me. Singapore Zoological Gardens has totally revamped to keep up with the latest changes. It has definitely become a cleaner zoo as compared to the past with more high tech facilities in place and there are numerous species of animals found in the zoo itself. I begin to look back in the past when I have visited this same zoo. I ruminate the times that in the past trips to the zoo, I used to eat in the KFC when I was young with my brother and my auntie and cousins.
Next area will be the area in buses. I think I have become more involved in this forum during the school holidays when I am more free. I like the routes of the public buses in Singapore and I will continue to pursue this dream of memorising the landmarks in Singaprore.

Maths Competition tml

Long time I have ever blogged as I am very busy nowadys. Recently, I start to play a bit of games like Heroes 3 to relax my heart and my minds over the past few days since tests are already over. Today, I have physics spa and this spa is not a spa for me. It was more of a torture test for me. This morning, the physics spa tests my skills and the ability of me to swing the rubber bung in a horziontal circle and I of course could not do it. I attempted to swing the rubber bung but the rubber bung kept hitting my head. Today, there is a half day for the whole school and I of course went for a bus "spree". I pass by the ECP and I witness such a magnificant scenery and the tall buildings such as OCBC and Maybank. I also saw the durian shell (esplanade). This has really sort of destressed me and I really appreciate how wonderful nature is. Besides, while I was on my bus spree, one stranger talked to me along the way and he encouraged me to work hard for tomorrow maths competition(AIME). That also made my day.
Suddenly, I remember Saturday, the day when I was out for 12 hours in the streets. In the morning, I went to the Career Fair in Suntec City and I have gotton many books concerning about the courses available in Universities both public and the private ones. One of the officers there also explains to me in a very affable way about the career options available. I was interested in accountacy but I was confused about the difference of accountacy and banking and finances. After going the career fair, I was very enlightened and I am more clear in the direction that I should go.
That same day in the evening, I went to Marche with my classmates. It was a class outing in Orchard. That was the first time that I had ever eaten in that restaurant with gates everywhere and is using the card system to pay bills. The food there really cost a bomb. I was feeling quite uneasy about eating the food there. After eating in Marche restaurant, my classmates and I went to KTV. I sang a couple of songs with a lousy tone. It seemed that the essence of the songs is ruined in my hands at that time. Nevertheless, I had a wonderful day that day.
